Ship 72 Skipper Dean Skiff says:

These periodic posts are made to keep Ship 72 members, parents, and interested folks informed as to our activities and our plans.

I welcome positive feedback.

Hi Ship 72,

Last weekend 14 members of the ship experienced a fantastic campout at the CARIBBEAN WEEKEND for Ventures at camp Greenough. “New Firsts” were enjoyed by all. They ranged from camping, being away from home, being part of a team and DOING one’s share, leaving things better than they found it, interacting with new teens and adults, wearing a uniform and representing a unit, being part of the nation wide Surge Ceremony remembering 9/11, ( Our own Grant Putnam had the honor of being asked to participate in the ceremony.) seeing how the American Flag is properly retired and respected, rifle and shotgun use, archery, riding a zip-line, tower climbing, swimming and sailing, and receiving an answer after asking” WHY”. (The answer was not always what they expected or wanted, but always explained.)

First Mate Brad Gardiner and I were proud the way the 14 scouts behaved and conducted themselves. Our appreciation and thanks go to Cathy Imler, Amanda Haddad and Karen Walther who joined us as leaders for the trip. All three mentioned how they walked away having a better idea of what the Sea Scout program is all about. We welcome other parents’ participation in the future. Let us know your comfort zone and how you would like to contribute as Ship 72 makes its’ way.

The ship will meet next Wednesday, September 22 at the scout hut 7:00 to 830 PM.

Go Nauset Sea Scouts,

Skipper Dean
