Ship 72 Skipper Dean Skiff says:

These periodic posts are made to keep Ship 72 members, parents, and interested folks informed as to our activities and our plans.

I welcome positive feedback.

Ship 72 Leaders,

Last night we had a great first meeting. Many good ideas were thrown out and discussed. The best part was seeing everyone on board and enthusiastic about the potential for an active Sea Scout program. Being our first organizational meeting our compass heading change quite often and our wake jigged and jagged but always in a positive direction. Here are some of the ideas discussed:

1. MARKETING MATERIALS: POSTER - Add Skipper Dean Skiff, Website, Picture of a male and female teenager vs. the adult picture, Move date, day and time over so we can write in info.

Add SEAMANSHIP MENTORING PROGRAM.

BUSINESS CARDS – date, time, location, contact & phone hand written on back.

BROCHURES – hard copies about Nauset Sea Scouts

2. Use/display one of the SURF BOATS as a sign to attract attention to our program. Location to be discussed.

3. Share Ship 72 to the Cape Tech. as well as NRHS.

4. Work with Orleans’ Big Brother and Big Sister Program. Adults are all ready in place with 14-16 yr olds. Help to get word out about Ship 72.

5. Once we are established, form a relationship with Local Harbor Masters, CG36500, Cape Cod Maritime Museum and other organizations that share our same interests. “A Win / Win” All parties can benefit from each other.

6. Lise Nielsen: Support material for recruiting kids from NRHS. “Game Plan”

7. “Set-up Day” for Middle School June 14

8. Media Packet……all on the same page for answering what / who are sea scouts.

9. Dick Hilmer is going to contact the editor of the CAPE CODDER, have her meet with us so an article about The Nauset Sea Scouts can be in the Paper preceding our INFORMATIONAL MEETING with teens and parents. We have to get the word out!

9. Our next meeting is pending on the editor’s availability at the moment.

REMEMBER…..”IDEAS ARE A DIME A DOZEN, BUT THE CHALLENGE IS TURNING THE IDEAS INTO REALITY!”

I thank everyone who attended and I thank in advance all who will help in the future.

Go Ship 72!!!!

Skipper
