Ship 72 Skipper Dean Skiff says:

These periodic posts are made to keep Ship 72 members, parents, and interested folks informed as to our activities and our plans.

I welcome positive feedback.

A special thanks to Tony Davis who gave us a great tour today of Arey’s Pond Boat Yard. I think we all learned something whether it was in his drafting office, the spar/wood milling area, the boat building area, the boat painting building, the winter storage building, the rigging/welding building or listening to him describe various boats on the dock. We ended the tour all boarding the 1905 27’ Crosby Catboat at the same time with room to spare. It was obvious what he told us about catboats, that the beam (width) is half the length of the boat…….BIG!

After the tour we put on our life-jackets, boarded the dinghy’s and practiced our rowing skills in a good wind that gave us a little challenge. Everyone made it back to the dock safe and sound. From the dock we drove back to the landship, had some hot dogs and soft scrubbed the boats preparing them for a good coat of wax. It was a great day of learning and work where fun was had by all.

Thank you everyone for making it a super day.

This Wednesday May 20, we will meet at 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Landship. Bring a friend,
