Ship 72 Skipper Dean Skiff says:

These periodic posts are made to keep Ship 72 members, parents, and interested folks informed as to our activities and our plans.

I welcome positive feedback.

Friends of Nauset Sea Scouts Ship 72,

Last night was the night we were hoping for. The recruitment meeting was attended by 18 students along with their parents. We signed 6 students so our 2010 BSA Charter with the Nauset Rotary Club of Orleans is well under way. Attending were 9 eighth graders, 3 freshmen, 4 sophomores, and 1 junior.( Eleven males and seven females) Maxwell Krause from Skaneateles, NY a 19 yr old college sophomore (Eagle Scout, former Boatswain of Apprentice Rank) signed up who will give us some needed experience and leadership as we rebuild our membership from scratch. Also Brad Gardiner who spent duty as a Navy rigger on the USS Constitution and other vessels signed up as an adult leader. As you can see, it was a very productive night that got the ship well underway.

I was very pleased with the chemistry of our leadership as we worked together for the first time with new students and parents. We are very fortunate the way the leadership and support for Ship 72 has come together. Our first meeting will be next Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at 7:00. A special thanks goes out to Scout Executive Dick Aiken who provided a DVD and exhibited professional skills as he assisted us in a successful evening. (He just returned from a National Training Clinic and it was obvious he took excellent notes and was not texting on his cell phone when he was supposed to be paying attention.)

Thank you all for getting the word out and keep it going for the NAUSET SEA SCOUT SHIP 72 is one of the best keep secrets on Cape Cod. Let us not forget to use our website as a means to recruit and get the word out. seascoutship72.org.

Go Ship 72!

Skipper Dean
