Latest Field Trip

Four Explorers and four adults had a fun filled field trip to Nantucket on Sunday November 13. The weather cooperated, so we could explore the downtown and waterfront. We visited Main St. and the boat basin and walked to Brandt Point Light at the entrance to the harbor. The Nantucket Whaling Museum was free for “Diversity Day” and we were provided with a very insightful and interesting tour of the collections.

Of greatest interest was the opportunity to visit the bridge of the 245’ ferry that delivered us to Nantucket. Capt. Worthington showed us the various navigational equipment and gave a synopsis of how it works. He then graciously allowed all of the Explorers to take the helm for a while and steer the massive ship while enroute. Certainly an experience that will long be remembered!
